Nashville Design Week is a week-long, city-wide series of interdisciplinary programs and events to unite the design community, promote collaboration and idea sharing, engage the public, and elevate the impact of Nashville’s design economy.

ABOUT

We believe we can create a higher quality of life through design. Founded by and for our design community, Nashville Design Week establishes a platform to elevate design discourse and the impact of a united design community in Nashville.

Nashville Design Week leverages the power of collaboration to bring together design professionals and the public, acting as the amplifier for exhibitions, talks, tours, workshops, and installations that showcase Nashville’s design talent and educate the public on the role of all design professions in bettering lives.

CO-FOUNDERS

LINDSAY DeCARLO
• •
Director of Marketing

Lindsay DeCarlo never so much as considered a life outside of art and design. She began her professional career with stints in arts education at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, as assistant to an antique furniture buyer, and at publications including Dwell and Design Bureau. She met her match in marketing and communications at Ennead Architects in New York City and in 2016 relocated to Nashville to join Hastings Architecture Associates. By day she works in marketing, brand strategy, and business development. By night she’s learning to throw pottery and constantly rearranging the furniture in her apartment.

JUlIA DYER
• •
DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY + OPERATIONS

Process-oriented from an early age, Julia Dyer was the only student in her third grade class to successfully direct her teacher to make a glass of chocolate milk (and an exceptionally chocolatey one at that) in an instruction writing assignment. A love of understanding processes and systems led Julia to a degree in economics and a business management career path. Exposure to design thinking while working at POLITICO in DC opened a door to a new way of approaching business problems. Julia honed in on the complexities of the ever-changing fashion industry, moving to Nashville to cut her teeth in the industry at the Nashville Fashion Alliance (NFA). She now brings her problem-solving skills to work as a Merchandiser at VF Workwear, an organization of VF Corp., one of the largest apparel companies in the world.

FULLER HANAN
• •
Director of programming

Fuller Hanan is driven by endless curiosity and her knack for connecting people to turn ideas into action. Growing up in a family of builders, designers, and creatives, it was no surprise she chose to pursue Architecture at Auburn University. Her studies at Auburn’s Rural Studio and Urban Studio opened Fuller’s eyes to the power of architecture to transcend physical space and property lines to impact culture and change. Fuller brings her unique experience in nonprofit community design with the Nashville Civic Design Center to her current work as a project manager in the private sector at Pfeffer Torode Architecture. Fuller tends to run ten minutes late, but always three steps ahead.

Kate O'NEIL
• •
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

On the first day of a drawing course, Kate O’Neil was completely shocked when the instructor wheeled in a TV and had the class watch the OutKast video “Hey Ya!” After being thrown off, the class listened eagerly to the explanation. Not many had noticed the symbolism, the movements, or colors that were strategic to the video's message. For Kate, it marked the beginning of a deep appreciation of thinking critically and molding material to build contrasting forms and spatial relationships. Enthralled with the possibilities, Kate earned a BFA in Interior Design and a Master of Architecture. In 2013, she moved to Nashville and joined Hastings Architecture and today is both a licensed Architect and an Interior Designer.
